Yosemite has always excited me. Yosemite has something for everyone. Lakes, waterfalls, rivers, beaches, treks, rock climbing and wildlife. Some clicks from my recent visit.

Animoto - Mashup service for photographers
While reading up on Cloud Computing I stumbled upon Animoto as a success story of a scalable architecture.
So what is Animoto? Animoto is ,in lucid terms, Windows Movie Maker on the web. It can take photos and convert them into movie and what more it can even add a background soundtrack. It is a classic example of a mashup as it can draw photos from various image sharing websites or your hard disk and audio from their own collection or from your hard disk and create a movie file out of it.
There is even a special feature for photographers called Animoto for Photographers which promises to create breathtaking videos from images. This is not a free service though :(
Registration is free and you are allowed to create short videos of 30 seconds. I gave the basic version a shot and created this short video in just a few minutes. I was sure impressed with the service. I am sure you will be too.

The Nagari Trek
Chennai Trekkers set out for a one day trek to Nagari hills on Jan 17th. The experience was just beyond compare.
We started out at 8:30 AM from the base of the mountain and trekked 11 Km uphill to reach a 30 ft waterfall and a pool of crystal clear pristine water just in time for lunch.
We all had a plunge in the water which was biting cold before a group of 11 set out on an exploratory trek above the waterfalls. With only unknowns to give us company it was an exciting experience to climb over the rocks, tip-toeing on the boulders across streams, clinging on to rock crevices and finally making it back in good shape.
After lunch the descent started at 3:30 PM. It took us 3 long hours to reach the base again after getting lost on the way.
